Capernaum is an ancient fishing village on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, known as Jesus’ “own city” in the Gospels. The site features the remains of a synagogue where Jesus taught and the house believed to be that of the Apostle Peter. Excavated and maintained by the Franciscans, visitors can walk among archaeological ruins that reveal layers of Roman and Byzantine history. It is a must-visit site for every Christian eager to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
